Dental implant crown replaces the tooth and preserves the bone

A dental implant replaces the missing tooth root, the tooth root is the part of the tooth that you cannot see. Once healed, your dentist will place a crown onto the implant replacing the portion of your tooth that you can see making your smile complete once again.

A partial denture hooks onto the adjacent teeth for support, loosening them over time.

One option is to replace missing teeth with a partial. A partial is a retainer with replacement teeth which clasps around your existing teeth for support. This can over time loosen the existing teeth and create cavities around the clasps.

Replacing a tooth with a bridge requires cutting down the two adjacent teeth.

Another option to replace missing teeth is a bridge. A bridge will require the teeth on either side of the empty space to be cut down in order to securely hold a replacement tooth in the space. A bridge can be difficult to floss and keep clean as well as putting the teeth that were cut down at a higher risk for future issues such as decay ror nerve damage requiring a root canal or the loss of an additional tooth.
